The Uzee Brown Society of Choraliers, established in 2009 by Uzee Brown, Jr. - an educator, composer/arranger, performer and former chair of the Morehouse College Department of Music - was created to:

  1. Assemble, study, sing and perform for the mutual enjoyment of making music of the highest quality for all of its members and the general public.

  2. Perform a wide variety of vocal music insuch a way that the music of diverse cultural traditions, both sacred and secular, are heard, and the heritage of African American musical traditions are preserved and understood.

  3. Advocate the concept of the Uzee Brown Society of Choraliers as a cohesive force and source of cultural enrichment in the community and throughout the nation.

TESTIMONY! Is a new CD release by the Uzee Brown Society of Choraliers in celebration of their 10th anniversary, directed by its founder, Uzee Brown, Jr.  The CD is an exciting compilation of inspirational songs with heavy influences from the African American cultural and religious experience, including spirituals, hymns, gospels, anthems and contemporary songs of adulation, alongside some original songs with potent lyrics on humanism, such as “I Dream a World”, “A Light” and “If My People”.  TESTIMONY! uniquely captures vastly diverse genres and styles of African American sacred Music.  It includes selections with many exceptionally gifted and contrasting solo voices, each bringing unique personal expressions to his/her specific renditions.  TESTIMONY! Includes foot-tapping jubilant, meditative and testimonial spirituals, charismatic sacred songs and hymns beautifully spun out in “anthem-like style, some with brilliant accompaniment and others unaccompanied.  As the CD title would suggest, the songs collectively bear witness to victory in the face of life’s many challenges, not solely in the ten-year existence of the Choraliers or the African American experience, but as a microcosm of the human condition, with its unpredictable twists and turns in the exciting an ever evolving cycle of life.
